Speak from the Heart Counseling is a Counseling Psychology private practice providing telehealth counseling and wellness services to residents of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Psypact participating states. We use individualized approaches toward conceptualizing each client’s unique needs, working collaboratively in setting goals, and taking into context the complexities of personal histories. At Speak from the Heart Counseling, we value and center client autonomy and believe that the client is the expert of their own lives. As partners, we will collaborate with you in your therapeutic journey toward healing and wellness. We will center your needs while using our expertise in psychological research and practice that is both evidenced-based and liberatory.

Individual Counseling
Private, one-on-one sessions with a licensed counselor. We take an individualized approach to conceptualizing your needs and work collaboratively with you in setting goals; options can include short-term or long-term counseling.


Group Counseling

Gain the benefits of counseling in a group setting and more. Groups offer a space to feel connected with others, to share your story and hear others, and to learn that you are not alone in your journey of struggle and healing. Groups offers a more structured approach and follows a treatment plan that is collaboratively set between you and your counselor. Group offerings include substance abuse and trauma recovery (more coming soon).


Support Group

Connect with others through shared identity and struggle. Support groups are a great way to engage in caring for your emotional health and well-being without committing to a treatment plan or ongoing counseling care. Gain support while supporting others in celebration and holding space with one another for collective healing. Support group offerings include women of color (more coming soon).


Programming

Movement-based classes, meditation, and brief education on mental health topics and others such as mindfulness and liberation. Best for those seeking brief information and structured course modules to supplement their health and wellness. Programming offerings include body awareness through self-defense and movement (coming soon).

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes: Aetna, Anthem, BCBS, Caresource (Marketplace) Cigna/Evernorth, Medical Mutual, United Healthcare/Optum, Out-of-Network.

    Even if I do not accept your insurance you have other options, such as Out-of-Network or Private Pay/Sliding Scale are also available.

  • If you use your insurance, you will be responsible for your copay/coinsurance at the time of session. Some have a deductible to meet before insurance will cover their portion of services, depending on your mental health benefits—check with your insurance (we also courtesy check your benefits).

    60-minute individual sessions are $150; Intake assessments are $165. Groups range from $25-45 per group session, depending on the group. Private pay and sliding fee scales are also available. Please see Fees & Insurance page for more details.

  • I have a diverse array of experiences and training; however, overall, I am trained as a generalist and as a Counseling Psychologist which emphasizes research, practice, and teaching that is both scientific and social justice principled. I use an integrative approach that is grounded in evidence-based practice (e.g., therapeutic relationship) and social justice frameworks such as feminist multicultural. Additional methods may depend on what works for you individually, culturally, and your presenting concern or distress, and unique factors such as trauma. Some methods that may be used include: Client-centered, motivational interviewing, feminist multicultural, interpersonal process, mindfulness.

  • Yes; consultations are brief phone conversations (approximately 15 minutes) to discuss fit and other questions you may have.
